Pre-Race Guide: 2017 Truxtun Youth Triathlon

Triathletes must turn in a completed Athlete Waiver and Bike and Helmet Safety Inspection Form at check in. The latter "should" be completed by a bike shop.

Due to a stream restoration project, the City of Annapolis has modified the bike course for Sunday's Truxtun Youth Triathlon. Read more here.

The Maryland Youth Triathlon Series heads to the state capitol for the second race in the Series, the Truxtun Youth Triathlon. We've packaged everything we've learned about the race into this pre-race guide. This is not a Mini Cow Tri hosted event so information here is subject to change.

Mini Cow Tri triathletes should be at the race site by 6:30 a.m. and setting up transition no later than 6:40 a.m. Coach Christy, Coach Frank, and Coach Jake will lead a pre-race team meeting starting from the area between transition and the pool entrance at 7 a.m.

Tips

  • Don't wait until the morning of the race to pack, or worse, find out something is missing, broken or too small.
  • The Truxtun Youth Triathlon is not USA Triathlon sanctioned, so triathletes will not be asked to show their USAT card.
  • Out of town triathletes may check in race morning.
  • Transition spaces are typically assigned.
  • Triathletes will receive their timing chip at check in.
  • Triathletes should pack flip flops and something warm to wear after setting up transition and until they line up to begin the race.
  • The swim will be a time trial start with triathletes circle swimming in a lane with other triathletes.

Weather

The forecast Sunday is calling for partly sunny with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will start in the mid 70s and rise to the mid 80s before its over. Triathletes should be drinking plenty of water before race day, apply sunblock before the start of the race but after body marking, and have a water bottle in transition.
