About USA Triathlon Junior Elite Skills Camps
Granted designation by USA Triathlon, the National Governing Body of multisport, USA Triathlon Junior Elite Skills Camps are designed with the novice to intermediate level 12–16 year-old triathlete in mind. These camps focus on the fundamentals of triathlon's four disciplines: swimming, biking, running, and transition. In the pool, triathletes will work on swim stroke fundamentals, starts, buoy turns, navigation, and simulated open water swimming. On the bike, triathletes will practice cornering, climbing, descending, and braking skills and be introduced to pack riding and entry-level, draft-legal racing skills. Run drills will focus on dynamic warm-ups, proper form, and transition runs. Significant focus will be placed on mastering ITU-style flow through transitions with flying mounts and dismounts. Triathletes will also learn about sports nutrition and how to structure their training, and USA Triathlon Certified Youth and Junior Coaches will discuss how to keep triathlon in balance with school sports. Triathletes will benefit from working with coaches having specific youth triathlon education, training and certification while learning alongside peers who share their interest in the sport of triathlon.
USA Triathlon Junior Elite Skills Camps follows USA Triathlon's age group competition rule. Triathletes born in the years 2000–2004 may attend the Mid-Atlantic Junior Elite Skills Camp.
While previous multisport experience is not required, campers must be able to swim 200 meters continuously, confidently ride a road bike with drop style handle bars (hybrid bikes and triathlon bikes with aero bars are not allowed), and run 2 kilometers (1.24 miles) without stopping.

We're excited to be using Athletepath for all of our camp and event registrations this year. We love their athlete first approach and you'll love their True Price Policy, where the price you see is the price you pay. Which, we're happy to report, is less than in 2015. And, Athletepath is mobile-friendly so you can register right from your smartphone or tablet no matter where you are—no need to wait until you get to your computer at home or at the office.
Please note, camp registration fees do not include USA Triathlon youth membership.
